The European Union, in collaboration with the Government of Togo, has officially opened applications for startups eager to present their ideas at the upcoming BlueInvest Africa event, scheduled to take place in Lomé, Togo, on October 15-16.

BlueInvest Africa serves as a premier platform designed to connect innovative African entrepreneurs operating within the blue economy sector with international investors and public stakeholders. This initiative aims to foster collaboration and investment in sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and local communities.

Following successful previous editions held in Seychelles and Kenya, the 2025 event in Togo is set to spotlight investment-ready projects that contribute to the development of a sustainable and inclusive blue economy across the African continent. The focus will be on initiatives that not only drive economic growth but also promote environmental stewardship and social inclusion.

Charlina Vitcheva, the Director-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries at the European Commission, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “BlueInvest Africa is more than just an event – it is a strategic platform to unlock sustainable investment opportunities in Africa’s blue economy, and a concrete example of EU-Africa cooperation in action.” This statement underscores the event’s role in fostering meaningful partnerships that can lead to impactful investments.

This edition of BlueInvest Africa is part of the EU’s broader Global Gateway strategy, which aims to enhance investment flows between Africa and Europe by establishing sustainable business partnerships. Through this initiative, the EU seeks to strengthen economic ties and promote collaborative efforts that align with the goals of sustainable development and environmental conservation.

Startups interested in participating are encouraged to apply, as this event represents a unique opportunity to engage with key stakeholders and showcase their innovative solutions in the blue economy sector.

    Applications are open here.
