Application is currently on for this year’s edition of the Ericsson Innovation Awards, which will see the winning innovation walk away with EUR25, 000 (US$29,000) in cash.
The Ericsson Innovation Awards is a global, annual competition that gives students around the world the opportunity to develop new, innovative ideas in collaboration with Ericsson experts.
In 2017, a total of 907 teams from 75 countries registered for the competition, with Team SNAP from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee taking out first prize.
The theme for this year’s award“The Future of Truth: How will we find, validate and share truth in the age of ICT?”
This year, the awards are also open to students who are currently enrolled and pursuing an associate, undergraduate, post-graduate or doctorate degree.
The Winning teams can get their hands on cash prizes, expert Ericsson mentorship and a trip to Stockholm.
Also, each regional winner will take home EUR1,000 (US$1,200) in cash plus other prizes, with some innovators chosen for the global semi-finals. All semi-finalists will receive Ericsson mentorship, with finalists then invited to the grand final in Switzerland.
At the grand final, the overall winner will be rewarded with EUR25,000 (US$29,000) in cash, while second, third and fourth place innovators will secure EUR10,000 (US$12,000), EUR5,000 (US$6,000) and EUR2,000 (US$2,500) respectively.
Interested innovators have until November 15, 2017 to apply for the Ericsson Innovation Awards (EIA).
