Cupertino Giant, Apple Inc announced today its partnership with Luxury watch maker, Hermes to create a new version of the Apple watch. This new version is made up of straps hand-made by Hermès combined with a special user interface. This makes Hermes the first luxury brand to be used by Apple in the production of its watches. Thanks to Hermes strong brand recognition when it comes to strap making which has been appreciated by watch collectors and manufacturers alike.
Apple is the world’s second largest information technology company by revenue after Samsung Electronics, the world’s largest technology company by total assets, and the world’s third-largest mobile phone manufacturer. On November 25, 2014, in addition to being the largest publicly traded corporation in the world by market capitalization, Apple became the first U.S. company to be valued at over US$700 billion. As of July 2015, Apple employs 115,000 permanent full-time employees; maintains 453 retail stores in sixteen countries.
Features of the Apple watch will include a polished steel case, a selection of special dials, and a selection of straps including the standard leather strap with buckle, the wrap around strap, and a wider leather strap with buckle.
Prices range from $1,100 for a single wrap strap to $1,500 for a watch with a full leather cuff, and the straps come in a variety of colors including black, red, tan, and blue. These watches will be limited to select retail stores, will come packaged in Hermès’ signature orange color boxes, and go on sale sometime in October. More details can be found on www.apple.com.
