Starting July 19th, anyone with a compatible iPhone can update their device to iOS 14.7. This particular update is expected to roll out with iOS 15 a few months after Apple’s iOS 14 beta finally ends.
According to 9to5mac, there are several things users need to know about iOS 14.7 in order to decide whether or not to update their iPhone. iOS 14.7 is different from iOS 14.5 and later iOS 14.6.
Apple MagSafe Battery Pack Support
Perhaps the most interesting feature of this update is the ability to add support for new hardware: the recently announced MagSafe battery pack, which according to Apple is coming soon to stores and doorsteps.
The MagSafe battery is designed to quickly and safely charge iPhone models using MagSafe wirelessly, so you can spend more time with your device.
If you want to buy a new MagSafe battery for your iPhone 12, you need to upgrade to the current iOS 14.7 before you can use the new accessory. Apple MagSafe battery is something that many iPhone users have been expecting to add more power to their devices. MagSafe is estimated to be able to charge an iPhone 12 up to 50% in just one hour.
Combined Credit Limits Through Apple Card Family
IOS 14.6 originally introduced support for the Apple Card family, but the new version 14.7 also allows users to combine lines of credit and share existing shared accounts with Apple Card users. Apple is also planning to launch another Apple Pay feature that will allow consumers to buy products and pay for them later.
Home App Gets HomePod iOS 14.7 with Multiple Timers Support
Apple will continue to update HomePod and add new features. The current popular iOS 14.7 may not support Lossless playback, which is expected to work with Apple’s smart speakers, but the company does offer a feature that helps users control multiple HomePad timers using the Home app. This is what we saw earlier in the iMore article on the iOS 14.7 beta.
Podcast App with iOS 14.7 Enhancements
With the release of iOS 14.5, Apple has completely launched and redesigned the Podcasts app. For example, Apple has published dedicated subscription channels and other standalone programs with the latest version of iOS 14.6.
Apple also released iOS 14.6 subscriptions for select channels, and individual shows on the particular Podcast app along with the iOS 14.5, a newer redesigned app. Apple iOS 14.7 now offers a new customization. The podcast library allows more users to see all of your shows or only follow certain shows.
Conclusion
The difference from the previous updates is that there are not many new features. However, fans are still welcome as they are still waiting for the upcoming iOS 15 release with additional features.
Apple also released WatchOS 7.6, which broadcasts ECG app and irregular heart rhythm notifications to 30 more places, and tvOS 14.7. Currently, Apple’s Security Updates page states that the latest version of iPadOS is still 14.6, so iPad users may have to wait a bit for the update to roll out to all devices.
