Apple has introduced a revamped iCloud app for Windows, enhancing both the onboarding and content syncing experience for iPhone and iPad users without a Mac. Accessible on Windows 10 and 11, the new app features a simplified setup process and a syncing status indicator for various services.

The updated iCloud app for Windows now allows the use of a physical security key to sign into your Apple ID. It minimizes the frequency of sign-in prompts and offers improved photo-syncing with Microsoft Photos, as well as quick access shortcuts to other Apple services.

In September, Apple upgraded iCloud.com to include features like PC browser notifications for Mail and Calendar, a customizable home page with quick action capabilities, and a slideshow view for photos.

Apple initially launched separate apps for iCloud, Apple TV, and Apple Music on the Windows platform in 2022. It previewed some apps, including Apple Music and Apple TV last year as part of its effort to phase out iTunes. These apps are now available as standalone experiences on Windows.

For device management, Apple introduced a Devices app, eliminating the need for iTunes. Though iTunes still exists on the platform, it is primarily used for accessing podcasts and audiobooks.
