Apple recently speculated that it may be stopping the production of its much-hyped, seriously anticipated and highly celebrated iPhone X by the summer of 2018.
Why Apple? *dramatically wipes off teardrop.
According to KGI analyst, Ming Chi-Kuo the move is necessary as a result of unimpressive sales outside of the US.
Some may agree that $1000 is quite a lot to pay for a phone considering the assortment of choices available. This is also coupled with the ambitiousness of Chinese brands that are focused on manufacturing mid-priced phones with premium features.
This doesn’t mean that the iPhone X isn’t superior to many of the brands out there but it is starting to look like Apple may need to succumb to the needs of other phone users outside of the US. To maintain its edge, it is highly important to strategize especially given its popularity in China-a very important market.
The iPhone was the only foreign brand phone that made it to the list of the top selling phones in China having captured about 5% of the entire smartphone sales in 2017.
This backdrop makes Apple’s move to increase its revenue by releasing two new phones by late 2018 a strategic one. The devices are a variant of the iPhone X 5.8-inch, 6.5-inch, and a 6.1-inch iPhone SE variant which will be equipped with Face ID technology and rumored to be priced at “$650-750 USD”.
But wait, just hold on for a minute.
Sincerely, do you really think Apple will stop production of the iPhone X by summer 2018?
OR do you think that they may be pulling a Jay-Z?
Hey now, can I get an encore if you think this is another marketing gimmick to make us all rush out with our yens and dollars?
Psychologically, people are more inclined to take interest in a product that is about to be scarce or extinct.
It is the oldest trick in the book. One that Jay-Z knows too well. He has been announcing his exit from the major music scene since forever making us all rush out to cup a copy of his supposed ‘last’ album, only to discover he isn’t really retired as he always seems to find his voice again.
No disrespect to his legacy but everyone in the music industry knows Jay-Z is a great businessman and most of his moves are always thoughtfully executed.
As genuine as Apple may sound, a part of me senses that this is that old psychological game that businessmen play. I am almost sure that Apple will record more sales premised on this news
What do you think?
