Through the LG smart TV App Store, users can now access Apple Music. Apple has been working on bringing its music streaming service on other devices and platforms for several years. Apple just announced that the PlayStation 5 will now support Apple Music. Apple Music is available on a variety of platforms, including Android and Windows, in addition to Apple’s own devices.
Apple has been hard at work implementing new features outside of platforms. Apple has recently added Lossless, Hi-Res Lossless, and Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos to its service. Apple Music members get these updates for free with their $9.99 monthly subscription. The latter costs extra for lossless Hi-Res streaming.
Apple Music is expanding its reach. LG’s smart TV App Store will soon include Apple Music, according to 9to5Mac. Besides their own library, subscribers will have access to Apple Music’s full collection. On the Now Playing screen, the software displays real-time lyrics. Sadly, LG doesn’t specify which TVs can run the app. So, open the App Store on your LG TV and look for the Apple Music app.
Apple Music on LG TVs will only stream in AAC. Dolby Atmos does not support Lossless, Hi-Res Lossless, or Spatial Audio. Lossless isn’t supported because it demands a lot of computing power. Most contemporary LG TVs include Dolby Atmos built-in speakers, soundbars, and receivers through HDMI ARC or eARC. Listen Now, Browse, Video, Radio, Library, Now Playing, and Search appear to be the same as the tvOS Apple Music app for Apple TV. Apple Music users who want a Lossless experience must AirPlay or use an Apple TV.
Music streaming service Apple Music is ranked #2 internationally, with Spotify leading by a wide margin. Early this year, Spotify stated that it would offer lossless audio, with a launch date set for later in the year. However, at the time, Spotify seemed to only accept CD-quality content and not Hi-Res lossless. Since then, no additional information has been released by the corporation.
