Following concerns of deteriorated battery life on the iPhone 12 series in 2020, Apple introduced the iPhone 13 series, which features larger batteries to provide users with longer battery life. With TSMC’s new 5G chipsets, the company hopes to increase the battery life of its next iPhone 14 series even further. According to a recent report, Apple may forsake Samsung in the process.
Apple to Ditches Samsung for TSMC’s New 5G Chips
TSMC surpassed Samsung with its sophisticated production method for 5G radio frequency (RF) chips, according to a report by the Taiwanese daily Economic Daily News. As a result, the Taiwanese semiconductor behemoth was able to secure all of Apple’s 5G chip orders for the iPhone 14 series.
According to market analysts, TSMC’s latest 5G chipsets employ the company’s 6nm process. Last year, it was originally shown at the TSMC Technology Forum. The company stressed the importance of superior RF technology at the time in order to support 5G smartphones and produce smaller, more power-efficient chipsets for future devices.
Apple will be able to incorporate larger batteries into the iPhone 14 models since they are smaller and more power-efficient than Samsung’s prior offerings. Additionally, even with 5G turned on, battery life is projected to improve significantly. 5G has a negative impact on battery life at the moment, so it is not suggested that it be used all of the time.
For all those who are unaware, a rumor circulated prior to Apple’s announcement of the iPhone 13 series that the devices would support the latest Wi-Fi 6E technology. Unfortunately, this did not occur. However, new sources claim that Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 14 series will include support for Wi-Fi 6E technology.
Meanwhile, some speculations claim that the iPhone 14 Pro will be the first Apple gadget to include a 48MP camera and a “hole + pill” display instead of the infamous notch. Furthermore, rumours claim that all iPhone 14 versions will feature 120Hz ProMotion displays. We can also expect RAM, camera, and other improvements.
However, these are all rumors, and Apple is yet to announce anything. As a result, until Apple officially unveils the iPhone 14 series later this year, we recommend treating these details with caution.
