Google has revealed that there are now about 1.4 billion around the world that are using the Android mobile operating system.
Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai said the number is up from the 1 billion users Google announced in May. According to him, many of Android users are in emerging economies such as Vietnam and Indonesia.
“These are people adopting a smartphone for the first time,” he said. “We try to push the state of the art and the state of computing.”
He also revealed that about 10,000 companies are using Android for Work which helps businesses secure and manage Android devices that access corporate data.
This development confirms that Google is commanding the global mobile operating system market. The Android OS runs on more than 271,000 smartphone units, according to research firm Gartner. More than 8 out of 10 smartphones use Google’s Android operating system.
Google’s Android mobile operating system continues to rule the world of smartphones.
“The numbers are critical as the Mountain View, California company tries to push its software into the hands of more consumers,” a report stated.
