Google has released Android 13 beta 2 official at the I/O 2022 developer conference, after providing developer previews and the first beta build. While keeping the Material You wallpaper-based theming of Android 12, Google has added a number of interesting and useful features. Let’s go into the specifics.
Detailed Features of Android 13
Material in Android 12 with app icon themes and new color styles, You Design has expanded its powers. The ability to alter per-app languages is also supported. There’s also the new media control, which changes its design according on the music being played.
There are also a variety of privacy-related features. Instead of Files and Media, Android 13 now has a new photo picker that provides two additional categories you may manage access to: “Photos & videos” and “Music & audio.” Instead of giving an app access to the full media library, you can share specific material with it.
Apps will now have to seek for permission to give you notifications, and fewer apps will ask for location rights. Android 13 will not only notify users when the clipboard is accessed, but it will also destroy the clipboard history after a period of time to prevent apps from accessing outdated data. Additionally, in Android 13 later this year, a unified Security & Privacy settings page will be introduced to simply access your device’s data privacy and security.
To compete with Apple Wallet and Samsung Pay, Google has now released Google Wallet, which allows you to access your cards. This year, it will have Digital ID functionality, similar to what Apple Wallet has. WearOS users will have access to it as well.
As stated when the first developer preview was released, Google is constantly trying to improve Android 13 for tablets by improving multitasking features. A revamped taskbar, intuitive app drag and drop capability, and the ability to rest one’s hands on the screen while using a stylus are all included. Google will also enhance its tablet apps to provide a better full-screen experience.
Soon, more Android 13 features will be revealed. More OEMs, including OnePlus, Realme, Oppo, Nokia, Xiaomi, and others, have been added to the Android 13 beta program.
