AMPZ, an online sports community has announced the launch of its sports talent mobile app, which has been in beta testing since November 2018.
The announcement was made at an event tagged MatchMania designed to be a yearly talent showcase for grassroots sports first in Nigeria and then Africa in the nearest future.
According to Co-Founder/CMO Brenda Nwagwu, “we have seen a huge gap in the African sports market and AMPZ is here to not only bridge that gap but also power the dreams of the next generation of African stars together with our partners.”
In an interview with Co-Founder/CEO AbdulJabbar Momoh, he described AMPZ as the “Linked In for sports in Africa with a mission to connect 5,000 African talents to their dream opportunities in the next 5 years”.
According to him “there is an estimated 78 million connected sports participants aged (10-24 years) exposed to exploitation including trafficking due to lack of access to verified information and platforms to connect with the right audience. Many African kids and youths believe sports is their ticket to a better life but are confronted with these challenges”.
The AMPZ mobile app allows sports talents to profile themselves, share their data, upload their content and get connected to verified opportunities and scouts. With this solution, AMPZ hopes to usher the African sports ecosystem into a new era using technology.
It is worth noting that AMPZ will be representing Nigeria in the MEST Africa Challenge in Nairobi on June 10-12.
