It’s a wrap. Global eCommerce giant, Amazon has announced its plans to exit the Chinese eCommerce marketplacem Amazon.cn. According to several media reports, online shoppers in the country will not be able to purchase items from Chinese vendors via the platform.

In a statement, the company said, “We are notifying sellers we will no longer operate a marketplace on Amazon.cn and we will no longer be providing seller services on Amazon.cn effective July 18.”

Amazon will however continue operating its other services in the region; Amazon Web Services, Kindle e-books and cross border teams that facilitate the shipping of goods from Chinese merchants to customers worldwide will continue business as usual.
