It’s a wrap. Global eCommerce giant, Amazon has announced its plans to exit the Chinese eCommerce marketplacem Amazon.cn. According to several media reports, online shoppers in the country will not be able to purchase items from Chinese vendors via the platform.
In a statement, the company said, “We are notifying sellers we will no longer operate a marketplace on Amazon.cn and we will no longer be providing seller services on Amazon.cn effective July 18.”
Amazon will however continue operating its other services in the region; Amazon Web Services, Kindle e-books and cross border teams that facilitate the shipping of goods from Chinese merchants to customers worldwide will continue business as usual.

According to a Bloomberg report, from the 18th of July onward, the company’s Chinese website will only have diminished offerings sourced from its global network.
On the other hand, Amazon recently entered the Indian Market and has committed $5.5 Billion to eCommerce in the country. It has already unveiled a Hindi version of its web and android apps.
