E-commerce giant, Amazon, has announced plans to sell its cashierless checkout system to other retailers.
Amazon’s checkout system, dubbed ‘Just Walk Out’, comprises a set of sensors and cameras. The sensors are mounted on the shelves measure any weight changes. The cameras are mounted on the ceiling to monitor shoppers movements in the store.
Once a shopper is done selecting goods, they simply walk out without having to queue up.
Amazon automatically bills the shopper’s account and emails them their receipt.

Amazon launched its first cashierless store in December of 2016, and is currently running 26 similar stores across the US.
Amazon will install and provide 24/7 support to any retailers interested in implementing the Just Walk Out checkout system in their own facilities.
