    Global eCommerce platform Amazon has launched an online platform that offers free cybersecurity awareness training to business owners and individuals across the world. With a strong focus on educating its employees about cybersecurity measures, the eCommerce giant has opened its educational online platform to the world.

    As the internet has become a key entity through which many businesses utilise to conduct their services, sell their products, and more, it is integral to understand the cybersecurity risks. According to reports, many individuals and businesses are victims of online phishing, scams, hacking, and more.

    Steve Schmidt, Amazon Web Services Chief Information Security Officer emphasises the importance of cybersecurity education.

    “Individuals and companies of all shapes and sizes are grappling with an increase in attempts at social engineering and phishing, tactics that may seem unsophisticated but can actually lead to large incidents. Education is the key to helping people and organizations better identify these threats and keep themselves protected. Amazon has seen the real impact and value of our cybersecurity awareness training, and we’re proud to share the program with the public.”

    The training programme

    Amazon’s cybersecurity awareness training can be accessed online here.

    The online training covers the following;

    • Identifying and understanding the most common social exploits for businesses and individuals
    • How to manage secure communication, phishing, social engineering, data privacy and more

    All the information in the course has been designed to cater to a range of learners ensuring that the information is clear, concise, and interactive. The content provided is aligned with the regulations published by the National Institutes for Standards and Technology (NIST) and the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).

    in order to ensure that the course is inclusive, it is available in several languages including; in English, simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, Arabic, Russian, Polish, Vietnamese, and American Sign Language (ASL). American Sign Language is also available with English, Spanish, or French text and captions.

    Two mechanisms are available to make use of the free course and can be done either through the Learning Management system, which caters to training for businesses and organisations to integrate its information into their own learning management systems or online training where individuals can access the free course.
