John Felton, Amazon’s top logistics executive, is set to take the reins as the Chief Financial Officer of Amazon’s AWS cloud computing division, as confirmed by Amazon on Thursday.
In a blog post, Amazon’s worldwide retail chief, Doug Herrington, revealed that Udit Madan, Amazon’s Vice President of Transportation, would be stepping into Felton’s shoes.
Felton, a long-serving Amazon executive of nearly 20 years, has most recently been at the forefront of Amazon’s worldwide operations division. He is part of the S-team, an exclusive group of senior executives led by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, dealing with diverse company domains.
John Felton expressed his gratitude for his journey in a heartfelt memo to his team, stating “It has been a great run and a time that I will cherish with pride,” He also conveyed his eagerness to use the expertise he gained in his operations role to benefit the AWS team.
Felton’s shift to AWS comes with the prospective departure of the division’s existing CFO, Richard Puccio, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.
The reshuffle in executive roles materializes at a crucial time when AWS is witnessing declining growth rates owing to economical apprehensions and inflation resulting in reduced client spending.
