    Aliko Dangote is 65th richest person in the world – Bloomberg

    According to Bloomberg in its Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Nigerian Aliko Dangote is the 65th richest person in the world. As at today 28 February , he is worth $16.6 billion

    The Bloomberg Billionaires Index is a daily ranking of the world’s richest people. The index is a dynamic measure of personal wealth based on changes in markets, the economy and Bloomberg reporting. Details about the calculations are provided in the net worth analysis on each billionaire’s profile page. The figures are updated at the close of every trading day in New York. Stakes in publicly traded companies are valued using the share’s most recent closing price. Valuations are converted to U.S. dollars at current exchange rates

    The Index also lists Aliko Dangote as the richest man in Africa.

    61 year old, Aliko controls Dangote Industries, a closely held conglomerate. The Lagos, Nigeria-based company owns sub-Saharan Africa’s biggest cement producer, Dangote Cement, which had revenue of 805.6 billion naira ($2.4 billion) in 2017. It also has interests in sugar, salt, flour, fertilizer and packaged food.

    The other Africans in the list include Nicky Oppenhiemer worth $7.05billion, Johan Rupert worth $6.84 billion and Natie Kirsh ($6.09 billion).

    The top five on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index are as follows

    1. Jeff Bezos – $136 billion
    2. Bill Gates – $98.6 billion
    3. Warren Buffett – $83.1
    4. Benard Annault – $80.8
    5. Amancio Ortega – $66.6
