Algeria has become the latest African countries to explore 4G. According to the country’s Minister of Post and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Imane Houda Feraoun, this Thursday, the official call for tenders for the exploitation of fourth-generation wireless telephony (4G) will be announced.

He said the Regulatory Authority for Post and Telecommunications (ARPT) will officially announce on 7 January, the opening of the call for tenders for the exploitation of the 4th generation (4G).

Speaking on National Radio, Feraoun told Algerians the results of the tender will be announced in May.

A period of three months has been granted to the mobile telephony operators for the purchase of necessary equipment, said the minister adding that the authorizations of 4G exploitation will be delivered in the last quarter of 2016.
