As a way of boosting scientific research in Algeria, the North African country will be building two astronomical and space observatories in Ahaggar and Aures, this was announced in Amman, Jordan, by the Algerian academic and researcher Djamel Mimouni.
In a statement gotten by Innovation Village, the Algerian physicist said, “Two national astronomical and space observatories in Ahaggar and Aures. The future observatory of Aures is a joint project between the University of Annaba, the Astrophysics Graduate School of the University of Constantine and the Research Centre in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics of Algiers (CRAAG).”
The project, which has been approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, is part of an international partnership.
Mimouni, also vice-president of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, said that the observatory will be endowed with sophisticated equipment as part of an international partnership, adding that the timeline for the project would span three to four years.
