airtel-logoAirtel Nigeria, has partnered with Interswitch, Nigeria’s leading integrated payment and transaction processing company, to create an interactive platform, which will enable customers top up their airtime directly from their phones.

This service, which is novel in Nigeria, allows Airtel customers who have Verve and MasterCard debit cards to buy airtime and data bundles directly from their mobile phones by simply dialing *356#.

Maurice Newa, Chief Commercial Officer, welcomed the partnership, saying in his words; “this is a key milestone for Airtel Nigeria in our focus to enrich the lives of our customers through convenient and cutting-edge solutions such as the Self top up platform. Indeed, this innovation provides an additional platform of convenient recharge option to our subscribers”. He also noted that the Visa Card option will be ready soon.

The Self Top Up service offers Airtel customers easy and convenient recharge options anywhere and anytime, without any additional costs. The airtime value is also not restricted to any denomination as customers can purchase airtime from N50.

For Post-paid individual customers,  it affords them the convenience of paying their bills through their mobile phones; all they need to do is dial *321#. This eliminates the process of paying online or through designated cash points. Another remarkable feature of this service is that customers can also recharge on behalf of families and friends by just entering the recipient’s phone number in the interactive channel.

Additionally, customers who make use of the self-top up platform will enjoy a 10 percent bonus on any amount of voice airtime purchased. This service is available on all categories of handsets as long as the customer has a valid debit or credit card.
