Airtel Nigeria has partnered with Google to redefine home entertainment. This collaboration integrates YouTube into the Airtel Smart Router, enabling seamless access to the world’s largest video platform on any television, including older analogue models.

This innovation bridges the digital divide in Nigeria by transforming traditional TVs into smart ones, offering a more accessible and affordable entertainment experience. Subscribers can now enjoy movies, music, educational content, and more with just a click of a button. The Airtel Smart Router combines internet connectivity with advanced features, positioning itself as a dual-purpose device that simplifies both digital access and home entertainment.

Retailing at N25,000 with a 30-day unlimited data plan, the device ensures affordability and ease of use for families nationwide. Equipped with an optimized YouTube app, a dedicated button on its remote control, and enhanced functionality, the Smart Router delivers a seamless viewing experience, making digital content consumption simpler and more enjoyable.

“At Airtel, our goal is to bridge the digital gap through affordable entertainment,” said Femi Oshinlaja, Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel Nigeria. “This partnership with Google revolutionizes the entertainment space, offering a complete experience that combines internet services with world-class content through YouTube.”

Femi Adeniran, Airtel’s Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, added, “By integrating YouTube into the Smart Router, we transform how Nigerians consume digital content, reflecting our commitment to innovative and accessible solutions for all.”

Google, a key partner in this venture, emphasized the importance of accessibility. Olumide Balogun, Google’s West Africa Director, said, “YouTube connects people with the content they love. This partnership ensures more Nigerians can enjoy YouTube directly from their TVs, bringing knowledge, creativity, and entertainment into more homes.”

Director of EMEA Product Partnerships at YouTube, Mahesh Bhalerao, echoed this sentiment, calling YouTube “a stage where culture comes to life.” He added, “This collaboration with Airtel empowers Nigerian audiences, offering high-quality, on-demand content to more homes.”

As Airtel continues to expand its digital offerings, this partnership highlights its commitment to enhancing connectivity and fostering a digitally inclusive society. The Airtel Smart Router represents a transformative step in Nigeria’s entertainment landscape, ensuring that quality content is accessible to all, regardless of the type of TV they own.
