    Airtel Launches Thuraya Satellite Services in Africa

    Airtel Africa and Thuraya have announced the launch of Thuraya’s mobile satellite products and services across 12 countries in Africa. The mobile satellite products and services is currently available to customers in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya and Zambia.

    This launch demonstrates Airtel Africa’s commitment to lead the market by providing cutting edge, technology-driven solutions for the benefit of its enterprise and high value customers. The collaboration spearheads the convergence between satellite and mobile communications, which addresses the growing demand for communications technology in Africa.

    Airtel is the first and only African mobile operator to provide such services to its customers, and according to Airtel, it intends to expand this service into its remaining markets allowing its customers have access to voice communication, messaging, social media apps and broadband internet through Thuraya’s satellite solutions.
