In line with its CSR program, Airtel Congo signed a sponsorship agreement with the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT) and the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education as the official sponsor of the national football teams in Congo in the following categories seniors, juniors (under 20) and cadets (under 17) for the next four years.
Signed in the presence of His Excellence Mr. Léon-Alfred Opimba, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education in Congo, the ceremony took place during the launch of Airtel Rising Stars tournament Season 4.
Airtel Congo aims at supporting all the national football teams both male and female financially and technically. In addition, Airtel will help the Congolese football federation to create proper visibility and brand awareness for the teams. It will also promote all the games played by the national football teams.
“We were sensitive to the appeal made by the government through the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education and with the efforts of the Congolese Football Federation we are now the proud sponsors of this teams. Airtel Congo commits to support the national football teams in Congo”, said John Ndego the Managing Director of Airtel Congo.
Making his speech, the Minister of Sports and Physical Education congratulated Airtel Congo for this great initiative. “Congolese football is in search of credibility, visibility, modernity, professionalism and great performance. This sponsorship agreement attests to the determination of all these three entities to support Congolese football in their future endeavors”.
This sponsorship agreement runs along with the launch of the fourth edition of Airtel Rising Stars tournament with the participation of ‘AS POTO-POTO’ team of Brazzaville. The ‘AS POTO-POTO’ team were the winners of Airtel Rising Stars Season 3 and participated in the African Championship tournament alongside 17 Airtel operating countries in Lagos Nigeria. The launch of the fourth edition was officiated by the Minister of Sports and the Physical Education in Congo.
