Last week, Airtel announced the winners of its CAS competition and one of them is PushCV, a career-guiding service that connects employers to talents, offering trainings to individuals as well as staff engagement and retention solutions for SMEs. Already, the startup has been able to help hundreds of SMEs efficiently hire, train and retain their best talents at extremely affordable rates.
“At PushCV, we offer solutions for both the companies and the users. For the companies, we give them a pool of quality, employable candidates to fill their available vacancies; while for the candidates we give them access to these bespoke job offers and then provide them with the tools to perform at these jobs,” Odunayo Eweniyi, Co-Founder of PushCV told Innovation Village.
When asked what their success at Airtel CAS Competition meant for the company, she said it will allow them to expand their reach.
“The win for us means that we get more reach, more awareness and a lot more people definitely know what we are about now,” she said.
Aside the NGN1 million cash prize, she said PushCV will get marketing access to the massive number of users that Airtel has in addition to advice and mentorship.
She said: “The cash prize is equity-free [and] what we plan to use the money for is majorly investing back into solutions that will provide value for our users. We would find the best possible ways to do everything better and with the prize money, we can take steps towards that.”
She told Innovation Village the judges were impressed with PushCV’s business proposition, the fact that they have been in the business for some time as well as their unique selling point helped endear PushCV to the judges.
Going Forward
Same day that PushCV was announced winners of the catapult-a-startup competition, the company launched the ELite Employee Quest 2015.
“The Elite Employee Quest is a competition that aims to identify 5000 of the best talent from the labour market; and then connect them with and place them in top organizations that need their services. We aim to give employers unlimited access to pre-screened and fully tested candidates throughout the year,” she said.
She noted that the overall dream of PushCV is to help alleviate the very big problem of unemployment by connecting employers to quality, employable prospective candidates in a seamless, cheaper and less resource-consuming way.
“We believe that with The Elite Employee Quest 2015, we are one step closer to achieving this objective,” she said.
She also gave startups tips on pitching successfully.
“Well preparing for an elevator pitch is the best. It worked for us. We made a very short pitch first and then expanded on that with the rest of the time we had.”
