A new Managing Director has been appointed for Airtel in Rwanda, he is Michael Nii Boye Adjei and the appointment takes effect from 15th October 2015. Adjei joins Airtel from Vodafone Ghana where he has been the Commercial Director since 2012.
He takes over from Teddy Bhullar who is moving on to Emtel Mauritius as Managing Director. Mr. Nii Boye Adjei started his commercial career at Unilever where he was Trade Marketing Manager from 2000 to 2003, then Regional Sales Manager between 2003 and 2004 before becoming Category Manager from 2005 to 2006.
After Unilever, he moved to Millicom (Tigo) Ghana as Territory Manager in 2006 and in 2008 became Head of Sales and Distribution before moving to Vodafone as Head of Sales, Retail and Partner Markets in 2010.
Making the announcement, Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Africa, Mr. Christian de Faria said “As the new Managing Director in Rwanda, Michael will leverage his Sales and Distribution experience to refresh our Go-To-Market Strategy, build execution excellence and innovate a winning Customer Value Proposition for the Rwanda Market. He will also spend quality time fostering relationships with our external stakeholders.”
Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Resource Development from University of Ghana and a Master’s Degree in Development Management.
Mr. De Faria added “We warmly welcome Michael to Airtel and wish him success. We also wish to thank Teddy for his contribution in Rwanda and wish him well in Mauritius; and a special appreciation to Tano Oware for his leadership and contribution during the period he has been acting as Managing Director.”
