    Airtel unveils mobile platform, MatchUp, to connect Nigerians

    Leading telecoms service provider, Airtel Nigeria, has unveiled MatchUp, a mobile portal that connects Nigerians including youths, the young at heart and professionals, who share similar social and professional interests and profiles.

    Designed as a simple matchmaking portal, MatchUp is an easy-to-use mobile service driven by flexible privacy options and data encryption to ensure customer satisfaction and security at all times.

    The unique service serves as a medium for Airtel customers to connect with each other for various reasons including friendship, dating and business relationships among others. It also has a special feature tagged ‘Rooms’, where subscribers discuss diverse issues relating to relationship.

    Speaking on new service, Chief Commercial Officer at Airtel Nigeria, Maurice Newa, described MatchUp as a platform, which offers lots of opportunities for customers on the network to connect with like minds for social or professional purposes.

    “At some point, people want to relate with others who are in the same field or share common interests. It can be students in the same field or professionals who render similar services, better still, youths or singles who want to initiate friendships or relationships. MatchUp offers everyone the opportunity to connect and know one another,” said Newa.

    He also pointed out that the service is one of six winners of Airtel’s Catapult-A-Startup competition, which aims to inspire innovation and assist start up mobile app and portal developers towards actualizing their business goals and dreams.

    With Matchup, users can easily search through thousands of profiles and photos to find people with similar interests. It also allows users to wave at other users and engage in private chats

    Airtel recently also partnered with one of the Catapult-A-Startup finalists, Yuzah, to enhance diesel delivery in Nigeria
