AIIM and Motseng launch MIIG to drive inclusive infrastructure investment across Southern Africa

African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), through its flagship IDEAS Fund, has partnered with Motseng Investment Holdings to establish a new investment entity: the Motseng Ideas Infrastructure Group (MIIG). This strategic collaboration marks a significant step toward advancing inclusive infrastructure development across South Africa and the broader Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

MIIG is a South African-based investment company managing nearly R1 billion (approximately $56.7 million) in assets. Notably, the company boasts a majority black ownership profile, with over 67% of shares held by black investors, including more than 57% by black women. This ownership structure reflects a strong commitment to economic empowerment, particularly for historically marginalized groups.

The newly formed MIIG will focus on high-impact infrastructure projects that enhance community well-being and promote inclusive economic growth. Its approach involves close collaboration with government entities, private sector partners, and local communities, ensuring that investments are not only commercially viable but also socially transformative.

Vuyo Ntoi, Co-Managing Director at AIIM, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership:

AIIM remains committed to sustainable and inclusive infrastructure investment. Through MIIG, we join a powerful platform that combines exceptional women and black economic empowerment credentials with proven execution capability and a strong balance sheet. This financial strength will support long-term growth and enable us to deliver meaningful socio-economic impact.

Ipeleng Mkhari, CEO of Motseng Investment Holdings, echoed this sentiment:

MIIG represents more than just a business venture — it is a statement of intent. It reflects our commitment to pioneering empowerment-driven infrastructure development that not only meets the needs of the market but also advances meaningful black and black women ownership. This partnership strengthens our ability to deliver high-impact infrastructure projects while aligning with South Africa’s socio-economic transformation goals.

In its initial phase, MIIG will prioritize public-private partnership (PPP) projects across key sectors such as social infrastructure, healthcare, and government office accommodation. The group also aims to attract new capital and expand its footprint throughout the SADC region, positioning itself as a leading platform for inclusive infrastructure investment.

By combining AIIM’s deep expertise in infrastructure finance with Motseng’s strong empowerment credentials and operational experience, MIIG is poised to become a catalyst for change in the region’s infrastructure landscape — delivering both financial returns and lasting social impact.
