Crop2Cash, an agritech startup that provides smallholder farmers with access to finance and markets, has emerged winner of 2019 Seedstars Lagos pitch competition. The pitch competition was held at the Seedspace Growthlab in Lagos.

The Ibadan-based startup was founded in 2017 by Michael Ogundare and Seyi Alabi and Emem Essien.

The startup has developed a fintech solution that helps smallholder farmers in rural Nigeria to receive digital payments.

Crop2Cash will now represent Nigeria at the Seedstars Africa Summit — which will be held in Johannesburg in December — where it will get a chance to win a spot to pitch for $500 000 in equity funding at the Seedstars Summit in Switzerland.

Meanwhile, Doctoora and Traders of Africa were second and third respectively.

In all, 11 startups were selected to pitch at the event. They include publishing platform Publiseer, edtech Edusko, health tech Doctoora, merchandise branding company Lucy.ng and software-as-a-service startup Pronob.

Others are eCommerce startups Alerzo, Foodlocker, One Kiosk Africa and Traders of Africa.
