Agritech startup DeHaat has acquired FarmGuide, a B2B Software as a Service (SaaS) platform. The details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Farm Guide’s data science and spatial technology will be merged with DeHaat’s existing platform to build a full-stack platform for agribusiness.
The development was made a month after DeHaat raised $30 million Series C funding. The FarmGuide founding team will merge with DeHaat. The tech platform and main database will be integrated with DeHaat’s entire technology.
Nikhil Toshniwal and Ankit Gupta, IIT Delhi Alumni founded FarmGuide in 2016. Both of them created a SaaS-based platform making use of satellite-based data for data-driven customized crop advisory services and the detection of farm boundaries.
FarmGuide said, after the acquisition, DeHaat will provide more customized advisory services to farmers based on the tagged land parcels. Regards the advisory, farmers will receive other and existing bundles of agri value chain services like agri input, financial services, and market linkage of farm produce in a sustainable way. This is aligned with the larger goal of DeHaat to maximize the profit of Indian farmers through technology and end-to-end agri services.”
Based on the acquisition, the Co-founder of DeHaat, Shyam Sundar Singh, said: “We have been building a full stack tech platform to map the entire agri value chain between Indian farmers and agribusinesses. The tech platform developed by FarmGuide complements our tech vision of bringing efficiency and transparency to agri supply chain. Its GIS technology and ability to use satellite data for crop monitoring and analysis will help DeHaat to provide customized crop advisory solutions to farmers and relevant agri insights to businesses transacting on DeHaat platform for agri input as well as agri output.”
Currently, the company is serving more than 380,000 farmers across Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and, Jharkhand.
The company said that it offers farmers access to more than 3,200 agricultural inputs, integrated with AI-based customized crop advisory content of diseases and pests management for main crops delivered through mobile app and call centers. It also includes rice, wheat, corn, vegetables, and fruits from farmers on their network and directly supplies more than 600 commodity bulk buyers which include eCommerce players, SME food processors, retail chains, and FMCG giants.
Regards the acquisition, the Co-founder of FarmGuide, Nikhil Toshniwal added that the main drive behind the deal was collaboration into the target goal of providing end-to-end services to farmers in a scalable model.
The tech platform of FarmGuide will be integrated with DeHaat tech platform to provide real-time and customized crop advisory related to water, nutrient, and crop stress for a wide range of crops, he said.
