For iOS users, Twitter recently put out a new timeline adjustment that pinned the Home timeline with the top tweets as the default and displayed the most recent tweets in a separate tab. This shift, however, drew some unfavorable reaction from users, and as a result, Twitter has abandoned the tabbed experience concept. The following are the specifics.
Twitter’s Home Timeline Is No Longer the Default
Twitter said in a recent tweet that it had listened to user concerns and has thus deleted the tabbed experience, which includes the Home and Latest tabs. The Twitter timeline has been restored to its previous state, allowing users to see the most recent tweets first.
Users can switch to the Home option in the current timeline, which includes algorithmic tweets, although this is no longer the default setting.
The decision to revert to the previous timeline was made after users expressed dissatisfaction with the new Twitter feed, which required them to see top tweets rather than chronological ones from the people they follow.
For those who are unaware, the Home tab became the default timeline choice and was automatically pinned to the top.
The Latest tab could be pinned as well, although it wasn’t a default choice. Instead, iOS users had to swipe left every time they wanted to see the most recent tweets. This feature was meant to be available to Android and web users, but it appears that this will not be the case.
While Twitter has reverted back the new upgrade, it has also revealed that it is experimenting with other feed alternatives. Until then, you’ll have to make do with the chronological feed!
