Gozem, a Super app available in the Francophone Africa, announced that it has raised $5 million in a new Series A funding round. Participants in this round include AAIC, Thunes (TransferTo), Momentum Ventures (SMRT), Innoport Ventures (Schulte Group), CMC Ventures (National Express) and Liil Ventures (Mobility ADO).
With the $7m raised in 3 previous seed rounds, this brings total raised to $12 million since inception.
Founded by Gregory Costamagna, Raphael Dana and Emeka Ajene, Gozem started its operations in Togo in 2018 as a motorcycle ride-hailing service. It launched its Super App in 2020 which offers a suite of services to Sub-saharan Africans. Its suite of services provides access to transport, eCommerce payments, delivery, and financial services for its users.
Already operational in four markets including Togo, Benin, Gabon, Cameroon and 13 cities across the markets, Gozem says it wants to use the new funding to expand into more Francophone African countries, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal and Ivory Coast. The startup is also looking to improve its asset financing model while fully launching its financial services.
Gozem says it has over 800,000 registered users and completed more than 5 million trips and its Super app is available on Android and iOS.
