Five African startups have been awarded cash prizes at the 14th edition of the Orange Social Venture Prize (OSVP) in Africa and the Middle East. Since its inception in 2011, the OSVP has been a cornerstone of Orange’s strategy to foster the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and promote inclusive growth in the countries where the Group operates across Africa and the Middle East.
The winners of the 14th edition of OSVP, which celebrates and supports startups with technological solutions that have a positive social impact in Africa and the Middle East, were announced at an international ceremony held in Morocco. Out of 1,600 candidates from 17 countries, five startups emerged victorious.
The International Grand Prize, which honors the top three technology-based projects with significant social or environmental impact, was awarded to Moroccan logistics solution SAVEY, which received EUR25,000 (US$27,000). The second place was secured by Tunisian electronics platform WeFix, earning EUR15,000 (US$16,000), while the third place went to Ivory Coast-based AI startup Cocoa Shield, which was awarded EUR10,000 (US$11,000).
The EUR20,000 (US$21,000) International Women’s Prize, dedicated to a startup led by a woman with a high-impact project, was awarded to Morocco’s MyTindy, an online platform that connects artisans with customers worldwide. Additionally, the EUR10,000 (US$11,000) Coup de Cœur prize, given to a project that stands out for its originality, was awarded to Egyptian AI startup Intella.
