The world has experienced a lot of transformation since the age of science and technology. The ideas have created exciting tools and resources, giving us access to useful information, at a very fast rate. These technological advancements have also made the lives of people stress-free, more interactive and fun-filled.

Digital Museum Abuja is synchronisation of art, technology and culture. The organisation’s goal is to create a digital community of artists, storytellers and techies through the promotion of innovative methods of curation, commissions, acquisitions and residencies. It aims to spark innovation, fuel creativity and transform minds.

The Art-Tech District (ATD) is partnering with the Civic Innovation Lab (Civicilab) to put together a series of hackathons to create a platform for “Using Technology To Tell Nigerian History” and will be called the MUSEUM HACK.

The event is an opportunity for Developers, Tech Startups, Tech enthusiasts and Undergraduates (in Universities across Nigeria) to propose and build software solutions to determine the best way to walk through museum exhibitions using AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality), with the aim of synchronizing Nigerian Art and History with digital solutions. It will enable these Developers and Tech entrepreneurs to improve on their ideas and create a working solution that users can interact with using technology to tell the Nigerian Story. The event will welcome local and globally focused solutions and is open to all developers.

Additionally, to help spark ideas the organisers have streamlined the program into two main sectors:

    1. Virtual Reality
    2. Augmented Reality

The Software Developers and Tech Entrepreneurs will be allowed to build their solutions with the technologies of their choice, across areas within the scope of the project that would drive impact.

The amount to be won at the Museum Hack is N1,000,000.00. This will be split into the following winning categories:

    • First position – N500,000.00
    • Second position – N300,000.00
    • Third position – N200,000.00

If you’re a developer or tech enthusiast or you know one, you can start applying as entry closes on the 4th of May 2021. To learn more and how to apply, go to the event’s website. For enquiries send an email to info@civicilab.com
