Even though most attention is currently on Nigeria’s commercial capital city of Lagos, the nation’s federal capital city of Abuja has been described as the next ‘big thing’ for tech startups.
In an exclusive interview with Innovation Village, Abuja-based David Chijioke who is the founder of taxi hailing service YourTaxiNow.com said unlike Lagos, Abuja is a very unique market for startups.
“Abuja market is a unique market. It is very different from Lagos. We do things here totally different,” he said.
He advised startups targeting Abuja to really understudy the city and introduce solutions that would solve the challenges being faced in the city.
“As a startup you must take your time to understudy and understand what the market wants. If you understand the market and you are willing to work hard, success will come. Abuja is the next big thing. This is the best time to be positioned properly as a startup,” he told Innovation Village.
Already, there are several successful startups that are springing up in – or operating from Abuja, one of such is e-payment platform SimplePay founded by Simeon Ononobi.
Chijioke’s startup on the other hand offers an online and call center taxi booking service that provides customers with fast, convenient, reliable, affordable and safe taxi/cab booking experience. Currently available on web, mobile and app, users can book taxis within seconds.
