The last few years have been difficult for Bungie. The studio has faced criticism for repetitive content, balance issues, and declining community activity. Player numbers have fallen, meaning that new releases have not replicated the success of the first installments.
The upcoming Destiny: Rising should be a new start for the developers. Interest is being fueled by promotional materials that promise fresh ideas and a new story campaign. Expectations are high: there are already more than 5 million pre-registrations on mobile platforms. Find out here why the community continues to believe in the brand and makes high bets on the future game.
Warming up players’ interest
Destiny: Rising was officially confirmed last autumn. Since then, the game has gone through closed alpha and beta testing. The game launches on August 28 on iOS (App Store) and Android (Play Market). The announcement was accompanied by a one-and-a-half-minute trailer demonstrating first- and third-person gameplay.
Following the announcement, pre-registration began on both platforms – according to information on the official website, more than 5 million players have already completed the procedure. Upon reaching 10 million applications, users will receive an exotic weapon skin.
A promising factor for players is the participation in the development of the talented NetEase Games team, which has given the audience such games as Revelation Online and Marvel Rivals. In addition, a wide selection of heroes with unique abilities, exotic weapons, single-player, cooperative, and competitive gameplay, familiar and new modes, as well as controller support have been announced.

Weapons
The following weapons have been added to the game: new to Destiny: Rising weapon archetype, plasma rifles. They use white ammunition, have an automatic target acquisition effect, and can hit several enemies at once. The existing pistol archetype has been redesigned into a completely new one – dual pistols. Exotic plasma rifles have also been introduced.
Enemies
In the new Red Sea Rift region, the enemies are two familiar fractions – the Cabal and the Vex. However, the developers have also introduced a new variation of Cabal enemies with a massive shield that they can unfold to create a barricade. New heavy elite enemies have been added, armed with weapons that release small or large energy spheres. Some regular enemies have been given jetpacks, which they can use to fly into the air and then dive down, dealing damage with a knockback effect.
The Vex have gained one new type of enemy, which looks like a modified Wyvern from Destiny 2.
Final thoughts
The Destiny series has long been popular among shooter fans thanks to its unique combination of dynamic gameplay and MMO elements, a rich science fiction world, and large-scale raids that require teamwork. And, as the numbers show, the upcoming Destiny: Rising will be no exception. With new features, a variety of characters and items, and a fresh approach to storytelling, the game’s release will be a breath of fresh air for Bungie.
Bungie executives themselves note the success of the announcement and are pleased that mobile gamers will be able to experience a new take on the universe.
