With the new Document Preview function, WhatsApp will soon make it easier for users to see what documents are being shared with them. The capability is currently being tested with Android beta users and will function similarly to how users may preview the content of shared links which was launched last year.
Introducing How to Preview Documents
The new WhatsApp function was discovered by WABetaInfo, a website dedicated to sharing WhatsApp-related information. WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.5.11 has Document Preview, which is being tested.
It has been discovered that when a user sends photographs and videos in the form of a document, the recipient gets a sneak peek at what is within. The present version, however, displays a little pixelated preview. We expect it to improve once WhatsApp reaches its stable version. For now, a shared document just displays the document type and name to non-technical users.
This function enables the sharing of documents’ photographs and videos. This is also how people can view a preview of a PDF file sent using Meta’s messaging platform. The new functionality is now being tested with a small number of beta testers and is likely to be made available to the general public in the near future. However, the precise moment of arrival is unknown.
For those unfamiliar, WhatsApp has been spotted exploring a variety of features. It was recently discovered testing the option to add a cover photo in addition to the profile picture. This is currently being tested for Business accounts. Then, WhatsApp is likely to launch a new Communities section, allowing group administrators to centralize management over their groups.
Additional enhancements, such as a new contact information area and a camera UI, are also anticipated to be added this year. We will keep you informed as soon as this occurs. As a result, stay tuned for additional details.
