Instagram released its data on monthly active users for the first time. Hmm… 90 million monthly active users. It also claims that users share 40 million photos per day, 8500 likes per second and post 1000 comments per second.
Impressive, but I still don’t know why I should use Instagram. Not because it is not “good”. Or you may say I am old-school. But I guess I have never felt the need for it even though I have known about it for quite some time.
But let’s start from the beginning. What is Instagram?
Instagram was launched in October 2010 by co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. Instagram is a fast, beautiful and fun way to share your life with friends through a series of pictures. Simply snap a photo, then choose a filter to transform the look and feel. Pictures are shared on Instagram, and can be easily uploaded to other social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.
“Instagram continues to see very strong growth around the world,” Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom told AllThingsD. “With many of the product and internationalization improvements we’ve made, we’ve been excited to see these efforts resonate with users globally.”
