The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is a valuable gaming resource. But it has hitches that make it unreliable and operate at a base level. The latest 8BitDo Controller gives every gamer more features for less money.
Here’s why: It comes with a Bluetooth function, and works well with laptops and smartphones. The ‘Pro 2’ is advanced when compared to the SN30Pro Plus. It has a physical control for you to reverse between Switch, X-input, D-input, and Mac.
The sight is very appealing. It is similar to a rhombus in shape, comes with two handles, and the analogue sticks are aligned symmetrically.
It is very handy. You can access all of its buttons and triggers with ease. The D-pad feels more or less like a SNES pad, and its position above the left analogue stick makes it more appropriate for games where it’s a primary input option. It is much more preferable than the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
With your middle finger, you can press its customised back buttons. The advantage is it allows you to enter controls with your thumbs still on the sticks.
With the Pro 2 Controller, you can set a back button to function just like a face button. It frees you up to create more flexible control schemes. With the Pro 2 it easy to control the camera in the middle of a Monster Hunter Rise battle. This feature alone makes it more valuable. The back buttons are quick to respond. All you need is a slight squeeze.
However, there are some features the Pro 2 lacks. The rumble isn’t as detailed as the Nintendo’s HD Rumble. It doesn’t have an NFC reader, and so can’t work with Amiibo figurines. Pro 2 cannot be used to power the Switch on. This is common to most third-party controllers across various platforms.
Though these deficiencies exist, the price of the Pro 2 is worth more in value. For $49.99, the 8BitDo Pro 2 is more economical than the Nintendo Switch controller whose pro controllers you’d find for the Xbox or PlayStation in the $180–$200 range.
The 8BitDo Pro 2 goes into the market by April 12th.
