7kemma, an on-demand home nursing service, has won Seedstar’s first African pitch event at Seedstars Cairo ahead of five other startups. The pitch event was at Seedspace Cairo and kicked off Seedstars World’s tour of startup scenes in emerging markets in Africa.
A jury comprised of Seedstars World MENA regional manager Meghan Warner, Averroes Ventures venture capital associate Mohammed Assad, Kamelizer CEO Hanan Abdel Meguid, Algebra Ventures managing partner Karim Hussein, and CIB head of digital ventures and strategic alliance Nosha Shaker crowned 7kemma the winner at the event.
In a press statement, 7keema CEO Amr Nakrn said “When our name was announced as the first winner, our hearts tended to jump out. This step comes to us on the right timing while we are opening a short round of funding and we are in negotiations with angel investors and accelerator programs. Now we feel very comfortable and relaxed and are sure 100% we will get the best valuation for our startup.”
By winning the pitch event, the startup won a ticket to participate at the Seedstars Summit taking place in Switzerland next year in April.
Odiggo, an online e-commerce platform which sells car parts came in second while HitchHiker a social network platform that connects shippers to trusted travellers to transport goods came in third. Edtech startup Skolera and fintech company Vapulus also pitched at the event. Seedstars World’s next stops in its Africa tour are in Tunis and Algiers.
