A SIM card is necessary for answering and receiving calls, sending and receiving text messages, and accessing the internet. As unfortunate as it is, hardware and software issues can cause your phone’s network connection to fail. If your Android phone says “No SIM card,” there are possible reasons it is malfunctioning;
- It’s possible it has not been inserted properly into the tray.
- Your SIM card could be soiled or damaged.
- This can happen if you’re trying a new phone with an old SIM. Certain 5G phones can’t connect to the network without upgraded SIM cards.
- Something could be wrong with the phone’s software, or the network configuration
- It could just be cache problem, and you simply need to clear it.
TRY TO RE-INSERT THE SIM CARD
This is one of the basic things you can try to solve the problem. Take out your SIM card and put it back in the SIM tray, but make sure it’s positioned properly. Remove the SIM from the tray and re-insert it to see if the problem has been fixed.
You can also check for Sim Card damage. Inserting your SIM card several times into your phone can cause you to scratch the surface. Probably that’s why you keep getting a ‘No SIM Card’ error. A scratch on the SIM’s surface can make it unreadable. We advise you get a new SIM card from your mobile network provider.
CHECK YOUR SETTINGS TO BE SURE YOU DIDN’T DEACTIVATE YOUR SIM CARD
You can turn off your SIM card network on your Android phone, especially if you have a Dual SIM Android phone. To find out if your SIM card has been disabled, check the network strength indicator on your Android device. You can do this by following these steps;
- Open the Settings and look for ‘Network and Internet.’
- Select Mobile Network.
- Tap the toggle next to Use SIM to enable the SIM card network.
- Close the Settings app and check if the problem is solved.
Alternatively, here’s how you can check if your SIM card is enabled.
- Open the Settings and scroll to select ‘Network and Internet’ option.
- Tap on Calls & SMS.
- Select SIM Preferences.
- Tap the toggle next to your SIM card name to enable it.
TRY TO DISABLE AIRPLANE MODE IF IT IS ON
By activating Airplane Mode, your Android device will immediately stop using any wireless connections, including Mobile Data, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Try turning Airplane Mode on and off to see if that helps.
RESET NETWORK SETTINGS
If nothing else helps, try resetting your phone’s network settings. Keep in mind that the steps below will also reset your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings.
- Open Settings and scroll to select ‘System’.
- Next, go to ‘Reset’ options and then to Wi-Fi, mobile, and Bluetooth settings,
- Finally, tap ‘Reset’.
CHECK OUT THE PHONE’S PARTS
Make sure that the SIM tray on the phone isn’t bent or broken. If the tray does not come out of the phone easily or if you have to use excessive force to get it back in, you will probably need to replace it. If the SIM card works in another phone, then you know the problem isn’t software-related but rather hardware-related. If your smartphone needs servicing or replacing, you should take it to a certified repair shop.
TAL TO CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR SUPPORT
If you just got a new phone and are getting the “No SIM card” message, it’s possible that you’ll need to contact your network provider to troubleshoot a possible problem with the network or the phone’s settings. If the problem suddenly appears on your older phone, it’s probably the SIM card. If you’re experiencing this issue and want to see if it’s a known software bug, you can also contact the phone manufacturer’s customer service.
