    Their mouthwatering income as entertainers is groundbreaking. They feature in blockbuster movies, host top-rated TV shows and have good ratings on the billboard charts. They are raking in millions of dollars. What do they do with their earned income? Well, some of  these celebrities have invested in tech businesses! However, the motivation for investing in these businesses are quite questionable and hilarious.

    Innovation village puts together some celebrities who took the bold step to put their money in technology companies for reasons best known to them.

    Selena Gomez – Postcards on the Run 

    Bored and with enough dollars in her account, pretty Hollywood actress Selena Gomez invested 750,000 dollars in  an App called Postcards on the run. With this app, iPhone users can print  and send postcards. The question why does she have to invest so much on an app that prints postcard when there is Facebook for posting pictures. It is not surprising, she was bored!

    Ashton Kutcher – Petnostics

    There are thousands of apps you can download which performs various functions. Petnostics was developed by Shark Tank. It is a pet urine collection contraption that can analyze your pet’s (dog, cats) excrements using a smartphone. Ashton Kutcher, a venture capitalist bought into Shark Tank. Petnostics keeps your pets happy and healthy with at-home urine test products.

    Justin Bieber – Shots of Me

    Shots of Me developed by RockLive is an app that allows users to chat through shared selfies. Bieber’s selfie addiction prompted him to invest 1.1 million dollars in the app. Except users leave Instagram or Snapchat, Shots of Me will remain in oblivion!

    Jay Z –Tidal 

    Rapper and husband of Lemonade crooner, Jay Z in conjunction with top musicians in setting up Tidal which is a music streaming platform. He wanted to fill the lacuna created by the non-availability of a  viable streaming service thus the need for Tidal. So far tidal’s performance is not up the scratch. In addition, it has been overtaken by Vine and Spotify. However, with Beyonce’s Lemonade streaming exclusively on Tidal, it may just revive its fortune. Interestingly, Kanye West’s album the life of Pablo.

    Leonardo DiCaprio – Mobli 

    Have you ever heard of Mobli? This is a video and photo sharing app that Leonardo DiCaprio who recently won an Oscar poured a whopping 4 million dollars. Mobli has 12 million users. Unfortunately, Instagram came and took over online photo sharing.  Perhaps, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg should call Leo to reroute his money from Mobli to Instagram!
