The Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, declared that the 2nd phase of the 3MTT programme will be announced on Thursday February 29th, 2024 with a projected training start date in March.

This declaration was made by the Minister via a post on X on Monday while giving an update on the progress of the 3MTT programme.

As we wrap up the first phase of the @3MTTNigeria programme, I am pleased to provide an update on our progress so far.

The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme is aimed at building Nigeria’s technical talent backbone to power its digital economy and position Nigeria as a net talent exporter.

According to the Minister, “over the last few months, our first cohort has gone through training programmes across 12 skill areas and we have received a lot of positive feedback from our fellows. The initial prototype phase has also given us a chance to take learnings as we execute and this feedback will help us scale and improve on the overall experience for our fellows and 121 training providers across Nigeria.”

“As we move into the next phase of an additional 270,000 fellows to be trained over the next 18 months, we are encouraged by the growing support from partners and stakeholders in our journey to deliver 3 million technical talents by 2027”, he added.

The Minister also gave an update on the status of the first cohort graduate from the programme. He said, “Another key update is that as our first cohort graduate from the programme, we will be finalising job placements for them. We currently have over 1,400 organisations who have indicated interest in taking on fellows from our first cohort and will be announcing the first set of these job placement in the next few weeks. This is a critical part of the objective of the #3MTT Programme that ensures we not only deliver technically trained talent, but also connect them to decent jobs.”
