3 Tips For The Traveling Modern Nomad

By Staff Writer on November 13, 2018 News

There are few things that come close to the independence afforded to the modern nomad.

Close your eyes for a second and imagine having the ability to travel wherever you want, whenever you want. No home, working from anywhere, being your own boss.

This notion may seem too good to be true, but to assure you, it’s not.

You may be wondering “How on earth can I just up and leave and wander the earth?”

Most of us have bills, a job, a family, a house and garage full of material possessions, no sweat right?

Today, we’re going to discuss three tips on how to address and ameliorate the most common issues the modern nomad will face.

    1 – Sell Everything

If you’re anything like most people, the thought of just taking all of your valuables and belongings and selling them with zero remorse may leave you feeling lightheaded and sick to your stomach.

At first, it may honestly be fairly difficult to uproot your stability like this, even if it’s a connection with a material object. It comes down to human nature, we get these notions in our head that we may need it, or even want it.

One way to reduce the pain of selling everything is to start slow and work your way up, take 50% of what you consider expendable, and then let it go.

Once you get started, you may find it becomes fun, and potentially even addicting, After all, less is more.

2 – Embrace The Freelance Lifestyle

Traveling and work often appear as two things which seldom go hand in hand, most of us only travel for vacations or business trips, but working as you travel?

Wondering what this sorcery is? It’s called freelancing, or the gig economy.

You can find jobs, gigs, side work, etc. in almost field you can imagine.

Be it a traveling carpenter, nurse, freelance writer, cyber security specialist, you can find a plethora of jobs on the internet or job sharing sites like upwork.com or indeed.com.

Once you establish a few steady clients, you can start to build your online business. All it takes is a little patience and creativity and you’ll be making money from anywhere in the world!

3 – Have A Way To Pay For Things

When you live life abroad, it’s important to have options when it comes to sending money from point A to point B.

Having a debit card or credit card is one thing, but what if your card gets lost or stolen or your cards don’t work, what will you do then? Remittance services are a saving grace in circumstances such as this, you can send or receive monies in an instant from your phone, tablet, or computer.

Living The Life Of A Nomad

As you can see, becoming a nomad is tricky, it requires some imagination and lateral thinking, it takes a little savvy and hard work, but it’s not impossible, you can live anywhere in the world earning a comfortable living outside of the constraints of society and finally get to taste true independence.
