The 14th edition of the Orange Social Venture Prize (OSVP) in Africa and the Middle East is now open for applications. The initiative supports social innovation and promotes entrepreneurship.
Since its inception in 2011, the OSVP has been recognizing and rewarding innovative startup projects that utilize and advance new technologies to make a positive societal impact in areas such as education, healthcare, e-commerce, agriculture, and environment in the region.
This edition is open for entries from the 17 countries under Orange’s operational footprint in the region. The process involves two stages — an initial stage collecting applications up until May to select three winners from each of the 17 Orange subsidiaries, who will then qualify for the international stage. Subsequently, 10 finalists will be shortlisted for the International Grand Prize and five for the International Women’s Prize.
The winners will be chosen by an esteemed jury of tech and entrepreneurship leaders from Africa and the Middle East in October.
The chosen contenders, from the 15 projects selected by Orange Group employees, will be awarded prized including EUR25,000 for the first prize, EUR15,000 for the second, EUR10,000 for the third, and EUR20,000 for the winner of the International Women’s Prize.
Applications are open here until May 24.
