African startups tackling pressing issues are invited to participate in the 10k2Startup program, which offers financial backing ranging from $10,000 to $50,000, along with additional support measures.
The initiative, conceived by Julius Nkansah Owusu-Kyerematen, Google’s head of multi-channel mid-market skills, acknowledges the critical role of funding and strategic mentorship in the growth and scaling of startups.
Operating out of Ghana, 10k2Startup is proactive in addressing these hurdles by proposing investments in return for equity stakes of 15% to 25%. Its current investment portfolio features innovative startups such as Homely, Nuelle Organics, and Green Tech.
Owusu-Kyerematen explains that investment decisions hinge on the startup’s development phase, growth potential, and the traction it has garnered. The more promising the startup, the more substantial the investment and equity share it can expect.
Beyond financial investment, 10k2Startup positions itself as a strategic growth ally, offering expert advice, aiding entrepreneurs through challenges, and linking them with a broad network of investors, partners, and customers to fast-track their expansion.
The initiative is open to all industries, focusing on tech-enabled startups that utilize advanced technology to create pioneering solutions.
Owusu-Kyerematen emphasizes the search for founders with the essential qualities for success: passion, perseverance, discipline, and strategic insight. The initiative values entrepreneurs who tackle challenges directly, turning hurdles into milestones towards their grand vision.
He further states that meticulous planning, unwavering focus, and a dedication to excellence are highly regarded traits. Demonstrating these qualities is crucial for significant achievements and sets a startup on a trajectory toward triumph.
Interested ventures can apply for 10k2Startup’s second cycle here until July 15, with shortlisted startups then invited for a 30-minute pitch session by July 31. Funding decisions will then be made within two weeks.
