Yahoo Biggest Cyber Attack Ever, With One Billion User Accounts Affected

Internet giant, Yahoo has taken out the record for the biggest cyber attack ever. The company revealed 1 billion of its user accounts recently got compromised, which surpassed a recent breach with 500 million accounts being from a single company, just three months ago.

If you are a Yahoo user, you need to yet again change your password immediately. While the passwords were encrypted, the trove of data also included unencrypted security questions. For instance, if your childhood pet or your mother’s maiden name are keys to unlocking your accounts, well, it’s time to change that information too.

In october, the company came under fire after reports surfaced that it had built tools to surveil customers emails to the US intelligence. And while it’s been staring down massive cyber security threats, Yahoo has also been trying to square away a massive acquisition deal with US mobile carrier, Verizon.

The US carrier agreed to buy Yahoo for $4.8billion back in July but now the company said it will review the impact of this new development before reaching any final conclusion.
