Just when we were settling down to the fact that “The Interview” was only going to be available on Christmas Day in a few theatres, Google announced that it was contacted by Sony Pictures to make the movie available online. And it consented.

According to David Drummond, SVP Corporate Development and Chief Legal Officer of Google, “Sony and Google agreed that we could not sit on the sidelines and allow a handful of people to determine the limits of free speech in another country (however silly the content might be).”
So Google decided to make it available online starting at 10am PST in the US (7.00 p.m West African Time); either for rent or purchase on Google Play and YouTube Movies. It will also be available to Xbox Video customers and via www.seetheinterview.com.
