Carter Wilkerson’s love for Chicken Nuggets prompted him to tweet at Wendy’s Chicken Nuggets asking how many retweets he requires in order to get a year’s supply of chicken nuggets. The reply was an impossible 18 million retweets!

Clearly, it would be a difficult task for the 16-year-old from Reno, Nevada to get 18 million retweets. But he took up the daunting task and shared this tweet below:

His appeal for retweets went viral and now, it has earned him a world record of the most retweeted tweet ever. It has been retweeted a whopping 3,458,928 times.

His tweet dethrones Ellen DeGeneres and her famous Oscars selfie tweet. It has been retweeted 3,431,643.

Wendy responded by tweeting that it will actually provide Wilkerson with one year’s worth of free nuggets, as well as a $100,000 donation in his name to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

.@carterjwm is now the most retweeted tweet of all-time. That’s good for the nuggets, and $100k to @DTFA. Consider it done. #nuggsforcarter pic.twitter.com/k6uhsJiP4E

In a blog post, Twitter wrote: Carter Wilkerson has become more popular than ever. On April 1, he had 138 followers. He now has over 100,000, he is officially verified on Twitter, and #NuggsForCarter has a custom emoji featuring a box of Wendy’s nuggets. Carter and his family knew the world stage provided an opportunity for them to do something more than just eat some nuggets. They wanted to make an impact.

Global companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple Music and United Airlines have all tweeted to recognise the teen’s fit and achievement.

It is noteworthy to add that on April 1, he had 138 followers. Presently, he now has over 100,000, and he is officially verified on Twitter.
