SuperFluid Labs has been named the winner of the ENGIE Challenge at the Africa Tech Summit in Kigali, Rwanda. SuperFluid beat out four other start-ups winning the chance to implement a pilot project with ENGIE or a cash prize.
The third Africa Tech Summit Kigali, powered by Disrupt Africa, was held from February 4th to 6th at the Kigali Conference Centre in Rwanda. The event featured several technology focused summits and brought together more than 600 participants including digital leaders, tech corporates, MNO’s, banks, investors, regulators, start-ups, creatives media and leading tech ventures from across Africa for three days of insight, networking and entertainment.
The ENGIE challenge, sponsored by the eponymous French multinational utility company, offered credit scoring startups with the potential to provide innovative solutions to both existing and future ENGIE customers the chance to pitch on the Africa Startup Summit stage. Superfluid was selected the winner of the pitch competition by a jury panel and live audience, beating out CARMA, Emata, Pezesha, and Plendify.
ENGIE’s motivation for the challenge was to identify credit scoring solutions capable of providing proper, accurate, efficient and relevant business intelligence to improve and optimise the prospection and acquisition of future customers, financing schemes for its existing and future customers, and scenarios to valorise customer data that aim to design customer profiles and match offers to customer needs.
Superfluid proprietary platform for digital lending, credit scoring module development, business intelligence and consumer scoring platform powered by data analytics and AI stood out among the competition and secured the Ghanaian and Kenyan company’s victory.
“The company has a good customer orientation. I think that the product and the team as well are quite agile, and may provide a solution that fits with our needs. We are eager to consider a partnership with them,” said Carole Henry, head of innovation and digital at ENGIE Africa.
Superfluid and ENGIE will now enter into discussions over testing the efficiency and viability of its solution in the relevant environment within the ENGIE Africa business framework over a period of six months.
Based on the results of the testing phase, the solution would be integrated within the ENGIE Africa business portfolio for further co-development. Prospective locations for the testing phase are South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Tanzania and Benin.
This victory further validates Superfluid’s business model and service offerings demonstrating its value to large corporate players. We look forward to reporting more on Superfluid’s successes.
