Orange to Deliver World Class Mobile Streaming Service From Kwesé TV.
Kwesé TV, the brainchild of Econet and Africas newest broadcasting and satellite network was well received in Botswana, yet in Zimbabwe were it was expected to be welcomed with an open arm still is battling a regulatory setback to kick-start its service. Late last year, Kwesé TV struck a deal with ZBC to screen its football content, but this was cancelled after only one week. Early this year, Mr Masiyiwa responding to a Facebook post from Gilbert Munditi, who said his heart was bleeding at seeing other countries benefiting from the telecommunications moguls projects, yet Zimbabwe was left out.
We really wanted Zimbabwe to be on the launch schedule. More resources have been expended to getting the approvals in Zimbabwe than in all other countries put together. I remain hopeful that one day the approvals will be granted, Masiyiwa said.
As soon as that happens, we will get Zimbabwe up and running within a matter of weeks and we will create thousands of jobs.
Batswana were first introduced to Kwesé with the launch of the broadcasters free-to-air channel Kwesé Free Sports in Gaborone in March this year. The broadcaster is now extending its presence in the market by unveiling the complete Kwesé TV experience; introducing viewers to a whole new world of entertainment and sports which includes exclusive third-party channels, first-to-market content and original programming.
Kwesé TV has signed a deal with telecommunications services provider Orange Botswana to deliver video content to the telco’s subscribed customers.
Orange Botswana will soon deliver world-class video content to its customers across the country thanks to its partnership with recently launched pan-Africa, multi-platform Pay-Tv broadcast network Kwesé TV. The telecommunications company has joined forces with Kwesé TV to provide its customers with premium entertainment and sports programming on their mobile devices.
Leveraging Oranges speedy 4G network, subscribers will soon be able to stream Kwesés premium programming on their connected devices through innovative data bundles, which will be available to its customers.
Orange Botswana said the mobile streaming will include access to P Diddy’s REVOLT TV, NBA TV, VICELAND and the Premier League among others offered by Kwesé TV.

Speaking on the partnership Lepacha Mafa-Nthomola, Orange Botswana’s Director Legal and Corporate Affairs commented:
“Batswana have been hungry for rich, engaging content and this partnership enables us to deliver TV into the palm of their hands.”
Orange Botswana launched 4G in 2015 to its more than one million customers countrywide, adding to the already existing GSM, GPRS, EDGE and 3G+ to accommodate mobile office applications and other multimedia applications.

Kwesé TV records indicate that the company’s capital expenditure in building out the platform will be in the region of US$46 million over the first five years across Africa.
In addition, the spend on content over the same period is forecast to top US$1.1 billion, emphasizing the importance of building a viable and compelling customer proposition through the acquisition of premium and exclusive general entertainment and sports content.
Kwesés mobile streaming service will soon be accessible to Orange subscribers through the network providers video data packages. Subscriptions can also be paid through Orange Money.
