Six companies owned by Africa Internet Group (AIG), Easytaxi, Lamudi, Carmudi, Hellofood, Kaymu and Jovago, yesterday officially announced they’ve moved to Yaba, a place that is fast becoming Nigeria’s version of the Silicon Valley in the USA.

The AIG companies in Nigeria are offering services such as online retail, online marketplace, food ordering, car classifieds, real estate classifieds, taxi hailing, online travel agency and P2P lending marketplace.

Yaba is a popular area in the Lagos metropolis that houses a cluster of banking, educational and technology institutions. It has grown to become Nigeria’s e-commerce hub attracting a nest of technology and start-up companies, earning it the name, Nigeria’s Silicon Valley.

According to AIG, the move is one of its efforts to contribute to making Yaba the next technological hub in Africa by building tight links to boost the entrepreneurship drive in the area and securing strategic partnerships to grow the ecosystem.

At a press conference to announce the official opening of the facility, AIG reps also revealed about 90% of their workforce live on Lagos Mainland and the region also has great market potentials for AIG’s companies.
